Launching Tee-Off

Creativity is the essence of Myntra, and we are always coming up with new ideas to provide you all with better services. It’s keeping this in mind that we launched ‘Tee-Off’- Myntra’s all new Orkut application. Yes, we now have our own application live on Orkut!! It’s been about a week since we launched it and have received some real good feedback.

Tee-Off is all about expressing your feelings, oozing your attitude, having fun, and winning some exciting prizes!! You can browse through the designs, pick your choice and buy it, or display it on your Orkut profile. You can tease your friends by sending hilarious designs or flirt with the help of the naughty designs. If you are one of the creative souls, you could create your designs, publish it, and show off your creativity. Apart from all this, you can also send unique gifts to your special ones through Tee-Off.

And now for the icing on the cake – rewards! You get to earn cool prizes such as ipods and cars for having all this fun. The more fun you have, the more points you earn, the more prizes you win. Every time you buy a tee you earn 100 points, 50 points if your friend buys (yup, getting that car requires teamwork), and publishing a design earns you 5 points while adding the application earns you 500 points! We now have an exclusive section for group merchandise. Browse through the list of products, interact with the designers, ask for quotes, and do much more on this portal.

What’s more? We have extended the list of products- they now range from a variety of t-shirts to organizers, laptop bags, and much more. Not just that, tell our designers the theme and they will come up with innovative designs to suit your requirements.

Occasions for Gifting

This world is filled with different groups of people- one group that loves gifting and finds all possible occasions suitable to do it, another that finds no occasion important enough to gift, the third one where the people never know what to gift, then comes the type who can’t find the gift they look for. It does not end there; we have sub groups in these groups. For instance the first group we mentioned- the group that loves gifting. There are people in this group who are not too choosy and there are people who are very choosy about it. So, usually the kind that’s choosy mostly never finds what they need and join the ‘can’t find the right gift’ group. Complicated? Confused?

Don’t be. Gifting is very easy and simple. Choosing the right occasions is even simpler. We in India have a never-ending list of occasions to choose from. If you do not like the traditional occasions, we have the New Year, Valentine’s Day, Women’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Boss’s day, and many such days. Apart from this we have the birthdays, anniversaries, farewell days, and so on. As for the non-believers of such days, you can choose your own days to express your love, gratitude, appreciation, et al towards the people you care for.

As for the gifts, you have various types of gifts for all possible occasions. You can find the conventional ones at the various gift stores around you. If you do not like these, then you could always go in for unique gifts and of course no prizes for guessing where you can get them:).

So stop hunting for excuses every time you fail gift someone. Go ahead; show your loved ones how special they are.

Cricket Fever

The IPL cricket fever has reached a soaring temperature and raises higher with each passing day and each match that is won or lost. The sale of the cricket t-shirts at Myntra mirrors the positions of the teams. At the beginning, the t-shirts of all the teams sold equally well. But with the progress of the game, the sales changed.

The Mumbai t-shirts for instance, had a tough time when the Mumbai team was loosing, till recently. Following their win, a huge number of t-shirts started getting sold. There are a few teams whose t-shirts have sold consistently throughout like the Chennai or the Delhi Daredevils. They seem to be the favorite of the crowd. Not to mention the Knight Riders, though with them we are a little unsure as who is the favorite- the team or SRK ;). And of course the fans of the cricketers seem to be torn between supporting their favorite star and their favorite team.

And as always, you can see, hear, smell, taste, and feel cricket everywhere. Be it in the vegetable shop, where the vendor is busy listening to the commentary (you could get a discount or some extra veggies if the player of the team he supports scores a six or a four) or the traffic rush on the roads one hour before the match begins- IPL is a hit with everyone.

Even the stadiums are packed with crowds wearing the t-shirts of the teams they support. Getting the tickets to watch the matches seems more difficult while compared to winning them through a contest in one of the radio channels. As for those lucky people who have won the tickets, make sure you wear a Myntra cricket t-shirt if you do not want to feel left out in the crowd :).

The Art of Designing

Everybody loves colors- but getting lost in them and creating a beautiful piece of art out of it is something only a few lucky creative souls can do. While painting on canvases involves a blend of art, colors, and creativity, creating designs for clothing, accessories, et al involves a mixture of text and design. Some prefer wearing designs that portray attitude, some prefer humor, and some other the causes they support. Catering to such a mixed crowd is no joke- and we really need to applaud our designer community for doing such a great job.

Thank you folks! For adding such lovely designs to our database. It really is a pleasure when we see the huge flood of designs soon after we announce our contest (and even before that ). The exciting part is the varied perspectives of different people about the same theme. It shows your passion and creativity. It’s because of this that our database is full of thousands of great designs.

However, it’s a pity that a lot of good designs get buried in this treasure and do not show up even when searched for. The reason behind this being inappropriate titles and tags/keywords. Most of the designers give the title their name and leave the tags blank. This buries the design and makes it impossible for anyone to search for it and buy it. We try our best to give them suitable titles and tags when we review them. But many a times we poor not-so-creative souls have a tough time in discerning what the designer is trying to portray through his design. Tags such as ‘design’ and ‘great collection’ might not really help in selling your designs. Try putting in 5-8 appropriate tags, so that the designs show up everytime somebody searches for similar designs.

We at Myntra always try our best to showcase your creativity. But there are a lot of instances when we are forced to reject the designs. This mostly happens because of a few common errors. A lot of people upload designs with watermarks of other websites. In other words some pick up designs from other websites in a random fashion and publish them on our website. We request you to send us only original designs. Another common reason for rejection is the low resolution of the images. Please publish images that have the minimum resolution of 96 dpi. Apart from these, we get a lot of designs that are actually logos of other companies/brands, cartoon characters, and also pictures of celebrities. All this is copyrighted content and publishing this on our website will lead to copyright violation.

These are the most common errors we find during the regular review of designs. Taking care of these small things would definitely help you and us. Ok, will stop the gyaan session here . Thank you once again for the great designs! Please remember your feedback and comments are always welcome.

Innovative Gifting Ideas

It’s your buddy’s birthday and you have no clue what to gift him. If you do, then you usually have no idea where to buy it, and when you finally find it the price usually makes you wonder whether you really need to gift him (if it’s a girl then the situation gets grave). Most of us are in this state at least once every month. So here are a few ideas to set you thinking about different gifts that could help you, your pocket, and probably us too .

Gift your buddy a goodie bag filled with personalized goodies such as t-shirt, calendar, watch, and a bottle of his favorite beer. Get the funniest, weirdest, wackiest, naughtiest possible pics of your buddy printed on calendars. As for the t-shirt browse through our website for some funny designs or better still make your own funny design and quote.

If it’s a gal better put in a bottle of an expensive wine instead of beer and also remember to add in some fresh flowers. Make sure that all the pics for the calendar are good enough to be sent for a modeling contest. To be safe add a few mushy lines about how valuable her friendship is and how much it means to you or about her beautiful smile. This would surely put you in her good books.

If it’s someone special- a watch, flowers, teddy bear, and a box of chocolates would do really well. A cute teddy wearing a t-shirt with mushy lines on it would win the heart of any gal, while the personalized watch is sure to make her feel special. If it’s for that guy you have a crush on, try finding out his favorite sport and gift a watch and t-shirt with designs of the sport- doesn’t take much to impress guys.

A set of personalized coasters, a gold rimmed plate with your family photo, and a watch with the photograph of your mom in her young days will make a good gift for your mom. As for dad nothing would beat a mug with the logo of his favorite football team and a t-shirt he could wear while watching the team he supports play cricket.
